On 2/28/17 around 3:15pm the Butler Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at Butler Wal-Mart on West Ft. Scott Street.When officers arrived on scene they made contact with the owner who stated her vehicle a 2005 maroon in color Chevrolet Tahoe was stolen from the parking lot and her dog was in the vehicle.
Officer viewed the surveillance video at the store and at Max Motors and determined the vehicle fled West bound on Missouri 52 Highway.
The vehicle was entered as a stolen vehicle and a stop and hold was placed into effect.
On star was able to track the vehicle to a storage unit in Lacygne, Kansas. When authorities responded to the storage unit the vehicle was no where to be found.
The vehicle was recovered a short time later in Miami County, Kansas and the dog was still in the vehicle and unharmed.
