Obituary - Virginia Elizabeth (Brown) Wallace

Virginia Elizabeth (Brown) Wallace
Virginia Elizabeth (Brown) Wallace, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on July 17, 2017, in Warrensburg, Missouri.   Virginia, or “Ginny,” as she was known to many, was born on March 1, 1933, to Henry Wallace Brown and Hazel Glenn (Moss) Brown, near Versailles, in Morgan County, Missouri.  She married the love of her life, Wayne Sherman Wallace, on June 17, 1956, in Clinton, Missouri, where they lived for over 50 years. They celebrated 61 years together last month. Virginia was preceded in death by both parents and a great-granddaughter, Stella Nimmer.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband, Wayne, of the home in Warrensburg; one brother, John Henry Brown and wife Margaret Ann of Leawood, Kansas; one sister-in-law Waneta Smith of Clinton; one daughter, Carole Nimmer and husband Don of Warrensburg; one son, Christopher Wallace and wife Debora Ann Vickers Wallace of Lee’s Summit; seven grandchildren, Timothy Nimmer and wife Tracy of Castle Rock, Colorado, Angela Noland and husband Erek of Kearney, Missouri, Natalie Nimmer of Honolulu, Hawaii, Michael and Elizabeth Nimmer of Warrensburg, Raleigh and Clara Wallace of Lee’s Summit; and four great-grandchildren, Luke and Grant Noland and Siena and Jackson Nimmer, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Virginia was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg, and had also belonged to the Allen Street Baptist and First Baptist churches of Clinton for many years. She enjoyed participating in Bible and book study groups, taught Sunday School and tutored young children.  She worked as a bookkeeper for many years starting at Clearfield Cheese Company and the family business, Dunning Furniture Store.  She held a real estate license, and most recently, worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block in Clinton. Virginia was a wonderful cook.  She loved to read and displayed her artistic talents sewing, painting and gardening.  Her grandkids were her pride and joy, and she was a constant supporter at their athletic, scholastic and musical activities.  Her true gift was constantly making lemons out of lemonade and being a friend to all who met her.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 21, at noon at the Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri, followed by a celebration of life service at 1:00PM, and burial in Englewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Condolences and fond memories may be left online at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.
