Woman arrested for bringing contraband into Bates County Jail

On July 12, 2017 an inmate, Ashley Martin (DOB 8/2/1995) was transported to the Bates County Jail from the Jackson County Jail for 2 warrants out of Bates County. The warrants were for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 grams or less of Marijuana/Synthetic Cannabinoid. The bonds on these warrants were $5000.00 cash only.

During the Detention Officer’s search of Martin a small plastic bag contacting a crystal substance was located in Martin’s purse. A Deputy was dispatched to the Jail to test the crystal substance and paraphernalia that was also located in the inmate’s purse. 

The test came back positive for methamphetamine. A green leafy substance was also tested that came back positive for marijuana.

More charges are expected to be filed against Martin for bringing Methamphetamine into the Bates County Jail.
