The two-story brick structure located at 15 and 17 south Delaware street (directly west of the Bates County Sheriff's Office) is slated for demolition in the near future, leaving two Butler businesses to fend for themselves. Terry's Beauty Boutique and Cantrell's Sewing Machine & Vacuum Sales and Service, have been notified by the County Commission that they must vacate the premises by November 1st.
The 100 year old building is suffering from what appears to be severe deterioration; the Commission has expressed concern for the public's safety as part of the reasoning behind the demolition, as well as it will provide additional parking for the Sheriff's Office.
