Local woman perishes in overnight fire

An early morning fire near Virginia claimed the life of Marlene Cole of Amoret. Husband William Cole reportedly suffered severe burns and was transferred to a Kansas City hospital for treatment. Butler, Amoret, Amsterdam and Foster fire departments were called to the scene, approximately one mile west of Virginia on 52 highway. More information will be published as it becomes available.
