Update - Pipe bomb found in routine traffic stop

According to information released by Butler Police Chief Jim Garnett, members of the Kansas City Bomb Squad detonated what appeared to be a home made pipe bomb constructed of PVC pipe and black powder this morning. The device was seized during a routine traffic stop Tuesday night and was held until today so that the bomb squad could detonate and examine it.

No charges have been filed at this time. Bates County Live will continue to publish information as the investigation continues.
