Dorothy Laurene Stice, known to her family as Aunt Dottie, 81 of Harrisonville, MO went to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the 14th day of October, 2012. Dorothy had courageously battled a long and debilitating pulmonary disease. She was born January 19, 1931 in Schell City, MO the sixth child of Harvey and Rose Ella (Anderson) Prough. Visitation from 12:00-1:00 Wedneday at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Parkway, Suite 201, Kansas City, MO 64114.

She graduated from Schell City High School in 1949. Dorothy worked as a beautician at the Jones Store in Kansas City before working for the Bendix Corporation for 10 years and later for Western Electric Corporation for 20 years, retiring in 1986.

Dorothy had a strong and unwavering faith in her Lord. She daily read her Bible and more importantly lived a blameless Christian life. She was a member of Harrisonville First Baptist Church for many decades. Dorothy let Christ’s love flow through her, touching all who came into her presence.

Dorothy married Robert “Bob” Stice in September 1955. They shared over fifty-five years of marriage. Dorothy cared for her husband in the home during his decade long battle with Alzheimers. They both died in the home surrounded by their family. They had two children, Garry Stice and Larry Stice and a beloved daughter-in-law, Cheryl Stice. Dorothy was blessed that her family all lived on the confines of the family farm. She was daily in the company of her children their entire lives. There was never a mother on this earth more loved by her children.

Dorothy had a large and loving extended family who shared her children’s devotion to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Rose, and her mother-in-law, Natalie Beard. Dorothy mourned the passing of brother-in-laws, Jimmie Gerald Stice, Harvey Carmichael, Billy Ring, Norris Stice, Tommy Rahn and Jim Kershner. She lost several nieces and nephews, John Kershner, Beverly Prough, Randy Ring, Linda Rahn Surls and Susan Stice. She lost several of her siblings whom she loved more than life, Doris Dean Prough, Velda Rahn, Roy Prough and less than one week before her own death, her dear sister Evelyn “Sissy” Prough. Dorothy promised Sissy that she would be in Heaven with her soon. They are now both joyfully in the presence of our Lord, forever blessed.
