The Missouri Highway Patrol says Williams was eastbound in a 2007 Honda Civic when the vehicle crested a hill and became airborne causing the driver to lose control.
The vehicle left the roadway, struck a fence, a tree and overturned before coming to a rest in a creek bed. Troopers say he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Williams was transported by medical helicopter to a Kansas City area hospital for treatment.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Adrian fire department, Butler fire department and the Bates County sheriff's office.
