On 2/1/17 around 6:00am the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover accident in the Southbound Lane of I-49 around Mile Marker 134.6 in rural Bates County.The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1999 Toyota Camry failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the roadway and down a embankment overturning.
The driver of the vehicle who is unknown at this time fled on foot after this accident. Two passengers in the vehicle 19 year old Chase R. Franklin of Independence, Missouri and 19 year old Ricky M. Stauffer also of Independence, Missouri both sustained minor injuries in this accident and both were transported by ambulance to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Don's Tow of Butler, Missouri.
