Forrest Marvin “Shucks” Shaner, 71, of Hardin, MO died Monday, January 30, 2017 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, MO.
Shucks was born on May 11, 1945 in Hardin to Junior and Helen (Jenkins) Shaner. He married Marian L. Curtis of Hardin on November 11, 1966. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include; his mother, Helen Ray of Richmond; one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Carla Shaner of Hardin; 3 grandchildren, Desirae Shaner, Dustin Shaner and Daylea Shaner; two great-grandchildren, Chesney Bates and Albany Bates; two brothers-in-law, T.J. Curtis of Hardin and Timmy Curtis of Richmond; one sister-in-law, Carol Curtis of Hardin; one ½ brother Henry Shaner of Butler, Mo and two ½ sisters Norma Shaner of Butler, Mo and Nancy Shaner Dooley of Lees Summit, Mo also survive.
In addition to his father, Shucks was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Tammy Shaner.
Shucks was an auto mechanic for a total of 45 years working for Swafford’s Ford in Richmond and Shaner’s Auto Service in Hardin. He was a member of the RLDS Church. Shucks loved spending time with his son and grandson working on their race cars in his shop at home. He was very proud of their success and watching them on the race track. He enjoyed fishing and coon hunting. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch. Shucks lived in Richmond and Hardin area most of his life.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. from 2:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be at a later date.
