Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Bates County

On March 30th a Sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy S10 for displaying the wrong license plates. 

The driver of the vehicle, John Justice Petty, advised the Sergeant he did not have insurance and the license plates belonged to his car. Petty stated that he had firearms inside pickup. 

He also told the Sergeant there was meth, weed and pipes inside the vehicle. The Sergeant searched the truck and located approximately 3.1 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 24 grams of marijuana. Drug paraphernalia was also located inside the vehicle.

Petty (DOB 10/17/1995) was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $25,000.00 cash only. He is currently being held in the Bates County Jail.

More charges are expected to be filed for Unlawful use of a Firearm by Possession of a Controlled Substance.
