Moderate injuries in accident near Adrian this afternoon

Just after 3 p.m. this afternoon three people received minor to moderate injuries in a two vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of 71 Highway just north of the AA Highway intersection. A 2008 Toyota driven by Robert W. Read, 71, of Paola Ks. struck the rear of a 1988 Subaru driven by Ronald W. Wood, 69, of Creighton Mo. as Read was attempting to pass.  Two passengers in the Read vehicle, Kenneth Read and Jeanette Woosley, both of Waldsport Oregon were taken to the Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Wood refused treatment at the scene.

The Adrian Fire Department, Butler Rescue and the Bates County Sheriff's Department assisted on the scene with trooper Cody Dunfee of the Missouri Highway Patrol.
