Work Zone Safety Awareness Week

This week is “Work Zone Safety Awareness Week”. The purpose is to bring awareness to the importance of safety in work zones.

Drivers slow down, and pay attention to the workers present on the roadway. Since 2000, 18 MoDot employees have been killed in the line of duty.

Work zones are no phone zones.
Motorist slow down and pay attention.
Fines are doubled in work zones when a worker is present.
No distracted driving, pay attention to the road and your driving.
When merging use the “Zipper Method”.
Do not follow to close.

The top causes of wrecks are: Distracted/inattentive driving, following to close, too fast for road conditions, substance impairment, and improper lanes usage.
