Jesse Ray Stewart, 77, Butler, MO, died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the New Life Assembly Of God in Archie, MO. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. In 1976, Jesse moved to Mound City, KS where he was a farmer for a little while, then became a carpenter, building houses. He built houses until he moved in 1982 to Mountain View, Arkansas, where he started driving a semi as an over the road truck driver. He and Carolyn moved back to Archie in 1986. She died in August of 1995. He later married Linda Dreiling. They lived in Archie until he retired and moved to Butler in 2008 at the age of 74.
Jesse was really proud of his work with the churches. One of the reasons he moved to Mountain View was to be a part of the Gideon’s International. He was one of the men that built the Victory Assembly of God in Adrian and was a founding member of the Archie Assembly of God. He currently attended the Assembly of God in Butler.
Jesse was preceded by his parents and his wife, Carolyn. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; one son, Christopher Stewart, Adrian, MO; two daughters, Phyllis Shontz of Leawood, KS and Mary Stewart-Lamb of Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Jessica Stewart, Ressa Stewart, Jim Stewart, (Chris’ children) and Alivia Stewart, (Mary's child) and four great-grandchildren.
