Elks set for April BBQ contest

Kings and Queens of the backyard BBQ prepare to face off April 8th and 9th at the Bates County Elks Lodge BBQ contest. Here is everything you to need to know:

Entry fee is $50, first place in each event pays $50. Fires must be fueled by wood, wood pellets or charcoal.

Friday, April 8th:
Meat will be inspected upon arrival.
Cooks meeting will be held at 6 p.m.
Dinner 7 p.m. - cost will be a free will donation

Saturday, April 9th
11:00 a.m. - Peoples choice- meat will be provided
12:00 p.m. - open
12:30 p.m. - chicken
1:00 p.m. - pork ribs
1:30 p.m. - pork butt
2:00 p.m. - dessert
3:00 p.m. - awards

Added fun - bingo will be played both Friday night (starting 7:30 p.m.) and Saturday night at 6:30 p.m.

All events are open to the public at the Elks Lodge located just North of Mill street on Elks drive in Butler.
