(BUTLER, MO – March 18, 2011) - Have you ever seen a robot and wondered, “How do they do that?” Would you like to build and control your own robot? If you answered yes to either question and are between the ages of 10 and 14, then you should attend Bates County’s first ever Robotics Camp. You will work with GEAR-Tech 21 robotics, GPS and GIS activities, including robotics building and programming challenges, geocaching, making a local map and more. You do not need to have any previous experience.
According to Alan J. Mundey, Bates County 4-H Youth Specialist, the camp will be held Tuesday, May 31, through Friday, June 10, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. until noon daily at the Adrian Optimist Community Building in Adrian, MO. (No sessions will be held on Saturday or Sunday.) The camp fee is $10 per child. A snack will be provided each day. All money collected will go for future projects, equipment and camps. All instructors are donating their time.
Hurry and sign up soon because space is available for only the first paid 20 applicants. The deadline for registration is May 1. For more information or a Robotics Camp application contact Jerry Ferguson at 816-297-2534 or the Bates County Extension Office at 660-679-4167 or you can visit the Bates County Extension website at http://extension.missouri.edu/bates/.
