Renovation puts bowling center in the new millennium...

The 40+ year old building surely needed some modernizing, but owners Joey and Trish Plunkett took it a step further. Ok, several steps. Not only have the lanes been refinished and pins replaced, but a look around the lobby reveals a totally new theme at Plunkett Bowl on south Business 71 in Butler. "Our first goal is to make it as family friendly as possible" said Joey Plunkett "Video games, projection tv's, pool tables. There's something for everyone". The overall look? A sports bar theme in a fun, smoke free environment.

There's more to come, too. A house wired sound system has been installed and will be used by well known local band Breakaway, who be playing for the open house celebration on January 15th.  Eventually there are plans for an 'open mic' night so aspiring musicians can come out and play, too.

While everyone is encouraged to come and have fun anytime, Plunkett also mentioned that the facility is open for get together's and engagements as well "Wedding receptions, company parties, birthday parties,  you name it". In fact, a company party or two were already booked this month. A new bar area (complete with countertops made of real bowling alley wood) offers wine, beer, soft drinks and food making any outing complete for any age group.

Along with completing the paving of the parking lot, future plans include a covered patio area accessible from inside the building. Also, a high tech security system has been installed so that management can keep tabs on every aspect of activity to help insure a safe, fun environment.

And when the lights go down for Cosmic Bowling, bowlers are treated to a whole new experience- it's one of those things "you'll just have to see for yourself".

To plan your next outing or get more information call 660-200-7333 or visit their web site www.PlunkettBowl.com any time.

Correction regarding courthouse holiday schedule...

All county offices will be open Friday, December 31, until 4:30--not just the treasurer/collector as we previously stated.  State offices will be closed on the 31st.  All county offices will be closed Monday, January 3, and all state offices will be open that Monday.

The county offices decided that for the convenience of the county they needed to be open the last day of the year and decided to take the New Year holiday on Monday instead.

Our apologies for any confusion regarding this schedule!
