Around 9:10 this evening a two vehicle accident occurred in the northbound lanes of 71 highway approximately 1 mile north of AA, causing a temporary closure of the highway. Two occupants were airlifted to Kansas City hospitals while the remaining injured were transported by as many as three ambulances. The exact cause of the accident is unknown and is currently under investigation; the roadway was cleared at approximately 10:30 p.m.
The Adrian Fire Department, Central Cass EMS, Bates County EMS, the Bates County Sheriff's Department and the Adrian Police Department assisted on the scene.
