The Bates County Sheriff's Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of person or persons responsible for several recent rural burglaries in Bates County. Sheriff Chad Anderson also advises that any suspicious activity should be reported which could include strangers asking for directions or inquiring about making home improvements, as they may be simply trying to find out if someone is home. Other suspicious activity would include unknown vehicles lurking nearby or seen in unusual areas and/or at unusual times of the day.
Seven burglaries were reported during the first of this week alone, bringing the total of theft reports in the county since the first of November to eleven. Arrests have been made in two cases already- Jeffory Harper, Montana Seymour and Aryan Silver, all of Amsterdam, were arrested for 2nd degree burglary in connection with the theft of several items from the Shilo Game Ranch near Amsterdam. In a separate case, Casey W. Morris of Butler was also arrested and charged with 2nd degree burglary of a business owned by Kenyon Diehl in rural Butler. Other subjects are being sought as the investigations continue.
The majority of items taken include HD flat screen televisions, guns, jewelry and hunting/outdoor gear.
