A two vehicle accident yesterday afternoon on 71 highway affected traffic in the north and southbound lanes for a short time. Hector Marrero, 40 of Houston Texas was southbound on 71 highway when his 2005 International truck struck the the left rear bumper of a 1999 Chevrolet driven by George Hess, 71 of Clinton, Mo. The truck then traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned. Marrero was transported to Research Hospital with minor injuries.
Assisting in the investigation were the Missouri Highway Patrol, the Cass County Sheriff's office, Central Cass, Garden City, Adrian and West Peculiar fire departments.
