The Adrian Boy Scout troop will be providing a retiring flag retiring ceremony on August 20 at 7 p.m. at the Bates County Elks Lodge in Butler.
The American Flag is a symbol of patriotism and pride. Once a flag becomes faded and tattered, it should be retired (thus destroyed) by the approved manner of burning. This is considered to be the most respectful method to retire a flag.
FM 92 radio station and the Bates County Elks Lodge is now accepting your old flags for retirement during the August ceremony. For more information call the radio station at 660-679-4191 or the Elks Lodge at 660-679-3533. More information about the ceremony will be provided in the near future.
