MU Extension press release: Century Family Farms recognized‏

BUTLER, MO – February 25, 2014)  - The Bates County Extension Council held its annual dinner meeting on Monday, February 24, at the Adrian Tractor Village.  Alan J. Mundey, 4-H Youth Specialist and co-county program director, welcomed the group and introduced guests Presiding Commissioner Donna Gregory, Northern Commissioner Jim Scott and Southern Commissioner Larry Berry.  Mundey also introduced county Extension faculty and staff Tammy Roberts, Associate Extension Professional and co-county program director; Mark Jenner, Ag Business Specialist; Nicole Cravens, Nutrition Program Assistant and Brenda Doody, office manager.
 
After a delicious meal prepared by Linda Howard, Tammy Roberts recognized the 2013 Bates County Century Farm families.  The following farm families were honored: Kent and Lori Page, farm established 1907; W.H. Durst and Durst Brothers, Marvin C. and Aubrey D., farm established 1909; Lutsenhizer family, farm established 1911; Griffin family, farms established 1909 and 1896; and Kevin and Mary Fischer, farm established 1890.  Representatives of the Julien farm established 1905 were unable to attend,
 
Extension Council members Wesley Merritt, Larry Berry, Tyler Black, Jerry Ferguson, Myra Colin, Alan Marr, and Jan Craft were recognized for their service to Bates County Extension.  Council members Reggie Gregg, Mary Fischer and Don Law were unable to attend.
 
For the evening’s program, Bates County 4-H member Erin Armentrout presented a slide presentation on her trip to Washington, D.C. last summer through the Citizenship Washington Focus program.
 
A brief Extension Council meeting concluded the evening.
