Funeral services for Charles Mathis will be 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler, Missouri. Visitation will be prior to services from 2-3 p.m. at Schowengerdt Chapel. Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Norwich, Kansas. Contributions to Living Hope Native Ministries.
Charles Mathis, age 77 of Butler, Missouri died Thursday, February 27, 2014 at his home in Butler. He was born February 7, 1937 to Clarence and Januita Ritchie Mathis in Commerce, Oklahoma.
Charles is survived by his wife, Emra Mathis of Butler, Missouri; one son, Michael Ray Mathis and wife Karen of St. Joesph, Missouri; two brothers, Bruce Edwards of Toledo, Oklahoma and Rev. Larry Mathis and wife Judy of Tucson, Arizona; one sister-in-law, Nondis Fisher of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; and one grandson, Charles Nothnagel and wife Dorothy of Butler, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sharon Nothnagel; and one brother, Grover Fisher.
